As part of our 10 Year Road Plan, Ridge Trail was completed Friday July 9, 2021. This was a bit ahead of schedule because Hallack Contracting was supposed to prep Friday morning and then lay the limestone (Dolomite) Monday morning but a job finished earlier than expected so they sent the trucking crews to our site. Friday is not our preferred day for that much construction, however, it is done. A few folks were inconvenienced due to the construction congestion and rerouting to Erie Trail. We asked for signage but that did not get in place until later in the day.
We have been asked a number of times why Ridge Trail first. Our reasoning; it is the most traveled road in the association with the most conditions that we are trying to solve for (I.e., gradual hills with constant erosion, spillways, cliffs, narrowing of the road on the east end to 20’ wide to reduce speed, chronic pothole areas, lots of foot traffic, blind curves).
We will tackle one stretch of road per year and what we learn from Ridge Trail will help us determine the next stretch to be done. Hallack provided all of the engineering, grade, depth, quantity and build of the road, so you can be assured that this part was done by professionals. Hallack has been MDOT prequalified since 1995 to do this type of work.
Thanks for your patience.
