This service is made possible through the work and effort of a three-county HHW Committee, financial contributions from local governments including the counties, cities, villages, and townships in Oceana, Mason and Manistee Counties, as well as donations from local organizations and private donors.
The annual household hazardous waste collection is scheduled for August 21 at the Hart Department of Public Works located at 1010 State Street in Hart. Residents of Oceana County have the opportunity to drop off unused or outdated cleaners, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, electronics, grease, oil, varnishes, batteries, and more. This program helps protect the state's natural resources and prevents pollution by ensuring safe disposal of hazardous waste. For a complete list of items that are accepted (and not accepted), please visit the HHW page on the Oceana Conservation District website. A suggested minimum donation of $10 will be requested upon entry.
