If anyone in CSA who has not had their Hemlock trees assessed for the disease, the MCD still has room left this year to add Cobmoosa property owners to the list for HWA treatment. To have trees assessed for HWA, property owners are to contact Kara Cronk at the MCD. Since she and her crew are out in the field most of the time, the best way to connect with Kara is via email at [email protected]
Hemlock Wooly Adelgid (HWA) is an invasive aphid-like insect that is attacking hemlock trees in the Cobmoosa Shores Association (CSA). Hemlocks with the disease and not treated will die in 4-10 years. The Muskegon Conservation District (MCD) has been working with property owners in our association, treated trees last fall and will continue treatments this year. The MCD is very busy with this MCD program. For more information about this project see [https://muskegoncd.org/projects-programs/hemlock-woolly-adelgid/].
